The Henry B. Gonzalez Foundation to Inspire Public Service seeks to establish in San Antonio a center for inspiring men and women to become public servants either through volunteerism, appointive or elective office at the local, state and national levels of government.
The Foundation, a nonprofit organization, asks that you contribute to this effort to inspire future office holders to develop within themselves the personal integrity, as exemplified by the late Congressman Henry B. Gonzalez, and to work tirelessly for the common good of their constituencies.
The Foundation's objectives also include: (l) training sessions for public servants and future office holders; (2) the production of documentaries profiling inspiring leaders at local, state and national levels; (3) seminars on the historical significance of successful legislation as well as discussions on current issues; (4) special meetings on government and public service for school children who come to the Center on field trips; (5) clinics where trained university student volunteers help local constituents in writing letters to their respective members of Congress or local or state officials.
Gail Beagle, Gonzalez’ chief of staff and press secretary for more than 30 years in Washington, D.C., heads the Foundation as a volunteer. The co-incorporators are Joyce C. Peters and Dr. Lucille L. Santos. Bertha C. Gonzalez, the congressman’s widow, is the honorary chair of the advisory committee for the Foundation. The Rev. Bert Clayton and his wife, Professor Janice Clayton, as well as many members of the Gonzalez family, serve as advisors to the Foundation.
Contributions in the form of checks may be mailed to the Gonzalez Foundation for Inspiring Public Service, P. O. Box 120305, San Antonio, Tx., 78212-9505. All contributors will be mailed a receipt for tax purposes. Those who send contributions of $100 or more also will receive a copy of Dr. Robert D. Auerbach’s book, Deception and Abuse at the Fed – Henry B. Gonzalez Battles Alan Greenspan’s Bank.
